NSMG

I'm the proud owner of 4980 shares. In at .215

Watch and weep!

Monday, June 4, 2007

Sorry!

Boy, it has been a while since I posted!!! Sorry about that!! Since I was last here some things have changed. I sold all of my positions and am starting fresh. Sold the following, all at a loss, I might add:
SWEB - 250 shares - bought at 1.14, sold at 1.01
CVM - 160 shares - bought at .96, sold at .81
OPBL - 1400 shares - bought at 1.00, sold at .47 (OUCH!!! Yeah, that hurt.)

I know OPBL did go up a bit after I sold it and that was painful to watch as well but the relief I feel to be out of that one right now is great!! Win some, lose some. I am sad I took such losses recently but these are learning experiences and I'm ready to move on. As you may recall, I purchased CVM and SWEB myself and my friend purchased OPBL for me. All were bad decisions right now.

So I will tell you that my next move is on NSMG. Watching it carefully and plan to go all in. This one could hopefully help me gain back my losses and then some. So keep an eye on things and see how I do! I'll try to get back soon and update you. I have a limit order in but the price needs to drop a bit for the buy in. As soon as I am in I'll post it here!!! Happy June everyone!!

Real quick...

Just wanted to say hello. I rarely post on a Wednesday. My holdings are all still in SWEB, OPBL and CVM. So nothing new. I'm watching OPBL like a hawk though. Waiting for that one bit of good news that will spike it so I can sell it. I feel fairly sure it will happen.

In the meantime I sit and wait. And work my two day jobs. Oh, but one is actually a "night job" as I only work there 1 night a week for the clothing discount!! Which, I might add, is 40% and that is huge when you are a fashionista like myself and have a teenage daughter AND a somewhat fashionable husband as well! The store has both men's and women's clothing. So I fell into that job almost accidentally (does anything really happen accidentally?). And I make and sell jewelry. I am working part time at a major food processing company AND I am trying to learn the stock market. In between, I'm just a mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister.......!!!

Okay, well after 2 big glasses of wine I think I need to hit the sack. I would apologize for that except look what I cover in a day! I deserve a big glass of wine! (or two).

Bye!

More and more and more...

Hi everyone! What I mean by the title today is that I continue to learn "more and more and more..." and that is okay!!
Current situation today:
Sold all 150 shares of BKHM for 2.40 today (bought at 2.39) ooooh...huge profits! (NOT!) but the reason I did this will become clear in a sec.
Friday my friend K asked if he could sell MGRM and buy something else. So we did that and then bought 1400 shares of OPBL. Of course, you may have heard by now, bad news on OPBL over the weekend. Not looking that great but ..... well, but nothing. It's not looking that great.

So now I still have CVM which is doing nothing but the last 1/2 hour of the trading day today, I got really good news on SWEB. Earnings report up 72%! This is one of my old faves. Found it a while back at it's baby stages of .80+ and it has done progressively better over the last 3 months. So I decided in the last few minutes before the markets closed, to sell BKHM and buy 250 shares of SWEB. I'm in at 1.14 and feel good about it.

I want to say a few more things, again, I continue to learn. My friend does not use stops. Actually, he does use them, but more the "mental" kind as he is by the computer all day long trading. Me, I am only by the screen 2-3 days a week max, and step away often! I'm re-thinking the stop orders. In my case, with a little trading fund to begin with, I think it's necessary. I won't lie to you, my account today, which started at $2500, is down to $1077. Not exactly what I had in mind when I started this.

But I'm still learning. I'd love any comments anyone has regarding ...... well, regarding anything at all that may help me! Just any words of wisdom, advise, etc. Or any thoughts on OPBL. Do you think it has a fighting chance? Hit me, I can take it!

Tuesday Stocks

Okay, I'm playing around with posting charts. This is not that great but I'll get better. At least I have the concept down. Thanks Laura!
This is a 5 minute chart today for BKHM. Look at the consolidation on this one! I sure hope it's a sign of a big, soon to come, breakout to the north!

I purchased 160 shares of CVM today at .9602 and will watch that for a while too. I saw it moving on the Scottrade market movers screen and then checked it out. I do that a lot lately. If one seems to be moving a lot on the screen in a positive fashion, then I scope it a bit more. Saw recent good news, volume increasing, highlights on a few small cap sites. I'd have bought more but no more money. Boo hoo!

Also was not happy to see my old friend VWPT breaking up to .83 today. For those that recall, only 2 weeks ago on May 1 I bought 1000 shares for a "fun" day trade at .45 and then sold for a loss at .43something. Big bummer!! Live and learn.

Well, now I will sit back and watch as I will not be by the computer for the next 2 days at least. I'll check out the action though, here and there. Good luck to everyone else!

Tagged!

Okay, I was "tagged" and I feel very honored! The tagger was Muddy at Green on the Screen and here are my answers:

My Five Obsessions -
1. The Internet & Email
2 Shopping
3. Entrepreneurship Opportunities (currently my website Stones on String and trading!)
4. Family and Friends
5. hmmmm....toss up between exercising and iced peppermint mochas from Starbucks...

Five Reasons Why I Blog-
1. I have a lot to say!
2. I love reading others blogs
3. Generate more publicity to my website
4. It is my trading journal
5. Not many women traders so my goal is to learn and then share with other women the secrets of my success!

Now apparently I tag 5 other bloggers. To be honest, I'm not sure if 5 people even read MY blog so hopefully they will get in on the game!
1. Shopoholics Anonymous (one of the first blogs I followed regularly)
2. Suburban Bliss (funny and real life)
3. Boogsters's Blog (inspired me from the get go!)
4. Perez Hilton (I'm shamelessly plugging this celebrity gossip blog. Love it!)
5. Trader X (seems like a nice guy and an awesome technical trader!)

Today, by the way, I bought 150 shares of BKHM at 2.39 and as it ended the day with a gain I will consider it a success. I'm treating it as a swing trade and the reason I bought it is that it showed up on my stock scan under "bullish engulfing" candlestick for Friday, May 4th. It's chart looked good.
It had some good news and volume quickly increased after the opening bell this morning. I watched it a bit and then bought some. I tried to buy more but my Scottrade account would not let me. I still do not understand why. Something about maintenence or ??? Who knows but very frustrating!

Does anyone know the best way to post stock charts on their blogs? THANKS!

Tuesday and Wednesday combined!

Very quickly I wanted to post and let you know that on Tuesday I decided to jump in and try to make a quick buck. I bought 1150 shares of VWPT. This came up on my scan data Monday night with a bullish engulfing pattern. I got in at .45 early Tuesday and sat back. Actually I did not "sit back". More like I sat rigidly upright at my computer screen for the next 4 solid hours only breaking once to wolf down some cottage cheese and quickly go to the bathroom! I was so sore and my neck was killing me!!! I tried lowering my chair, raising my chair, stretching, but was afraid to step away from the screen for any length of time. In the end it did not matter. I set my stop at what I thought was .425 but who knows what I was doing and actually I got stopped out at .4301. I actually set up a stop loss order on Scottrade and in retrospect, will NOT be doing this again on a day I can sit by the screen and keep an eye on things because as I learned the hard way the market dudes on the floor (can't remember what they are really called!!!) see that and GRAB it and you are screwed!

So let this be a little $30+ or so lesson learned. Geez!!!

I need to go back to my roots. I'm going to spend some time studying and reading and see what I come up with. I want this to be simple and easy and not time consuming but I want to make $. I am not sure if I'd rather day trade or just buy and hold a few days (swing) and maybe I'll do both. Time will tell (and hopefully my trading account funds will hold out!)

Still have MGRM. What is up with this stock????? Everything says it should move but it doesn't. FRUSTRATING!!! I know my friend K is in it BIG so we both have something at stake. Come on little guy! MOVE IT already! (UP, move it UP!!!!)

Hmmm....no idea what to call this post.....

Well, I hate trying each day to think of exciting new names for my thoughts. Might be why I don't even post every day!

So today I am still in MGRM. It has not taken the flight I thought it would yet. I'll wait patiently. I think it has much potential and when it does go, it will go big I think.

Today I hung out for 3 solid hours (only taking quick potty & coffee refill breaks) in Muddy's chat room. For those of you not following along....go to http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/ and up at top right..."Chat Room". It was a fun morning! I mostly watch and try to pay attention. This is a "market hours" type chat room and is for alerts mainly. Buy and sell. HOD (high of day). That kind of stuff. I rarely speak up as I'm so new to this game, but every now and then I get bold and offer something. Today in between watching the chat and my pee breaks, I was on stockcharts.com at the 52 week high scans and checking out the charts on Scottrade. I stumbled across a very fun chart for SWRI. I think when I found this one it was at 1.73 and I mentioned it to the chatting crew. It seemed to cause some excitement in the room and for the rest of the day it was a hot topic! It closed at 2.24 with a HOD at 2.25, gaining volume the entire way.

I, unfortunately, was not on the ride, but it was a positive experience nonetheless! I think I am "getting it" and once I learn to trust my instincts and use my hard learned knowledge, I might make some $ at this. In the meantime, I am getting some help from some friends (can people you barely even know be friends? I think they can!) and think I'll be on my way shortly.

I told K today that I am getting bored just watching and want to jump back in the game. Nothing against him or his stock picks but when I make money at this, I think I want the satisfaction of knowing I did it myself!! (okay, well, myself but with help!) So tomorrow I am going to watch the chat again and possibly participate and POSSIBLY make a trade. We will see! I feel much more educated then I was when I bought PRW, that is for sure!!! (and that one still could do something someday. Never say NEVER!) Bye!

Friday before Saturday!

Ha! How's that for a catchy title?? I crack myself up sometimes....!

Okay, seriously, today in my trading account we sold TNRI at .20 (bought at .175) and still holding onto MRGM but this one should fly shortly. I have every confidence!! I mean, why wouldn't it?? Look at the news, the chart. Today's intraday chart shows quite a bit of consolidation. Look at the one minute chart. Look at the three day chart. Look at the GOOD NEWS on this one! Look at this article: http://www.pennysleuth.com/FieldReports/FirstPennyStockFortunes1.html

Okay, enough said. I'm in this one so I have a vested interest. It will go up. Once K gets my account back to where it started and maybe a bit higher, then I'm very anxious to try my hand at trading myself again and using some of Green on the Screen techniques and working with Laura too. They know what they are talking about. I let K take over when I was faltering and I feel bad taking it all back (yeah, it is MY money but still... he is good, he's made a bundle himself and I trust him). But I'm itching to try some action on my own again!!!

Today was Friday and I did not work but here is what takes up my entire day so I cannot even peak at the computer during market hours or even AFTER market hours. For the record, I'm married and mom to 2 (9 and 17). I work part time which means 2 days one week, 3 days the next week and back and forth. I job share. BUT I truly believe working part time is almost more work then if I worked full time. Here is WHY. When you work full time you and your full time working husband are equals. You split household chores 50/50 because you both work full time. Well if you work part-time then it's almost like you don't work (in your husbands eye's) but not only do you work but you are then responsible for like 90% of the household chores because you have SO MUCH TIME!!!! Of course you do!!!! (NOT).

Oh, and you only work part time so you can have plenty of time to be on the PTA board, help in the classroom, run your son's baseball teams website, show up for all your daughters tennis matches and your sons baseball games, have dinner ready and waiting for all children and full time working husband on most nights, help with homework, keep the entire house sparkling clean, grocery shop, run all the errands, take kids to any appts they may have, ........ !!! Oh, and I forgot, in between, I'm supposed to (and this is VERY important) keep myself looking hot and sexy for my full time working husband which means I have to find time to consistently work out, get my hair done, shop for cute clothes and basics like make-up and shampoo, get my upper lip waxed (yeah, whatever, most women must do this and if they are not doing it, they should!) and a zillion other things....to be a wonderful wife!

Holy smokes I rambled on! I am not sure if this blog is such a good idea. I'm not sure if it's really a stock market blog or a bitchy wife blog or maybe both??? Can it be both? It will depend on the day I guess.

Okay, well, this will be over and out for the weekend. We are doing a huge function tomorrow (wine touring all day and then big shin-dig at our house afterwards) and Sunday son is trying out for a tournament team and I have jewelry biz to tend to and then by the time Monday rolls around it will be stock market time again!!!! I can't wait! I bet, neither can you!!!!! Oh the suspense!!!

Hmmm...what shall the title be???

What a challenge to think of a fresh and exciting title for these blog posts! I could just use the date I suppose.....I'll have to think about it.

Well, today CTLG was sold. 2215 shares at .84 (which I think is what it was bought at...)
And still have TNRI and it's not doing very well at all. I'm not sure what prompted this purchase or how K found it but he must have a good reason so I'll sit tight.
And he/we purchased 850 share of MGRM which looks like it might have some potential.Got in at 2.15 on some and 2.1499 on some of the rest.

K is still running my account. We have not had much communication the last 2 days. I need to see what his strategy is. Meanwhile, my strategy has been hanging out again in Muddy's chat room. I am learning quite a bit hanging out in there!!

I broke off into a private chat with Laura (I sound like I know these people, don't I?!) who really, really, really hooked me up in the short time we talked today! She gave me some tips and showed me some things in Scottrade that I am hugely excited by. And I thought I knew so much, a regular Miss Smarty Pants. Seems I was wrong! I have so much still to learn. THANK YOU LAURA!!!

So K still has the reigns on my trading account but once I gain a bit more confidence I will take them back. Stay tuned!

Monday Morning

I lied, it's not really "morning". It's 2:22 pm West Coast time. But there is a song that has that verse and I started singing it in my head so that is what I typed in!

Still holding TNRI which reached a HOD of .23 and had it reached .25 I might not be holding it any longer. But it is reaching new highs each day so we will see what tomorrow brings.

Also still holding CTLG and nothing exciting going on with that one.

I did get 3 free trades for referring a friend to Scottrade. Whoooo hoooo! That was nice :o)

I hung out in Muddy's chat room today and watched the action. I was quite impressed with this group! They were very on top of things. I will definitely pay them a visit daily and hopefully soon, I can contribute as well.

Not very much more to post today. I'm busy updating my jewelry site, Stones on String, so stop by if you need a sexy little gift for yourself or a special friend. Brand new designs hot off the press and more to come if I can drag my butt away from the computer for a bit. Is anyone else as addicted to the internet as I am? What did I do before this????? I can barely remember!

Off to work...

Well, I have to run to work here in about 5 minutes but wanted to give you a brief update.
Sold BIOM 350 shares at 1.40 (bought at 1.30 so we are not talking a huge profit but a GAIN nonetheless!)

Now I'm still sitting on CTLG with 2215 shares and a sell limit order in (is that what you call it?) at .95

Also, looks like K put in a buy limit order on TNRI this morning at .15 and I have not talked to him yet so not sure what that is all about and no time to investigate since I have to leave for my stupid job!!! (yes I'm thankful I have a job, yes I'm appreciative I get to job share, yes I am very lucky, blah, blah, blah!!!!)

Okay, gotta run!

Wednesday - EARLY...

Okay, first a clarification, Muddy-of the infamous Green on the Screen blog IS indeed a "him" if I can trust the internet, emails, people I don't know and most of all, my own instinct! No, really, a very nice guy at that. I visited his chat room briefly yesterday and then we exchanged a few emails and I have a feeling he will be very helpful if (okay, WHEN) I have questions.

I did some scanning last night and here is what I think I will watch today:
ONCY-good news in a presentation released on colon cancer
CPRX-this one looks like it could start going up soon
CKRH-Just had a MACD crossover and RSI is still under 70
AVNC-this one looks really good. Lots of insider purchasing
TTGL-can't remember why and I have to leave for work

So off to work I go.........I'd much rather be staying home and watching the market. I can only sneak peaks at work and then sit helpless for the most part unless I text my friend to get me in (or out!) of something. Have a super day everyone!!

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

Morning Update

So, here is why the market is so frustrating...

Sold MDII only to see it run huge this week. FRUSTRATING
Held BIOM only to see it do nothing this weeks so far. FRUSTRATING
Bought CTLG (2215 shares) at .88 and now it's taking a nose-dive. FRUSTRATING
Hopefully CTLG will rally back up. So in the meantime, I am back to studying and reading some more.

Discovered a nice stock blog I've been following Blonde Money. A gal like me who wants to learn how to trade successfully! She incorporates video into her blog and makes it quite interesting. She also uses the author of stock blog Green on the Screen (Muddy) as her mentor and is learning quite a bit from him (assuming it's a "him", one never really knows!). So check it out in your travels.

Hopefully more exciting things to report soon!

On a ROLL!

Hi all, (this is assuming there IS an "all" as in "1 or more readers"???)
Okay, any-hoo, here was the action today:
BIOM - holding steady
MDII - sold at 1.70, 720 shares (bought yesterday at 1.52, sold at an 11.84% profit)
PRW - sold at 1.01, 300 shares (bought at 1.16 so took a loss of 13.67% or $61.97)

Alas, I cannot take the credit, my friend who now shall be named going forward as K, is doing the work. We are trying to get my account back to the original $2500 start limit and we are damn close!! He is erasing the few little losses I had and getting my account primed for big things!!

So stay tuned!

Monday Action

Just to keep everyone in the loop, and for my own personal record, here is what happened in my trading account today:
Sold NGEN 300 shares at 1.53
Bought MDII 720 shares at 1.52

Watching PRW, it's climbing. Would like to sell soon.
BIOM is looking to be a nice purchase!

I got my margin form filled out and faxed back so I'm good to go! See ya!!

Two in a row!

Okay, everyone, try not to pass out but I'm posting two days in a row!!! Crazy, isn't it?! I know.

Well, the morning started out a bit frustrating. First of all, I got stopped out on my CYTR shares. Not a good way to start the day. BIOM actually had a slight gain so that one is good. PRW is flat. Blah!!! And NGEN closed out at 1.60 but it was a slow market day after all.

So my friend, the genius who is tackling the stock market like you would not believe, is going to help me a bit more. He has tried but alas, I'm very stubborn and like to do things MY WAY so he's had a hard time "guiding" me. He made me realize today that I am making some costly mistakes. For one thing, I am buying small lots of stocks, 300 here, 250 there, and I really need to put a big chunk into something that's on the way up, make my gain and get out fast. Do that over and over until I've built up my account and then I can start to add a bit more variety. Also, the sleeping in and missing the opening bell is probably not the best way to go about it either. And the fact I have to step away from my computer a few times a day is not helping much.

SOOOOOOOOoooooooo....I am giving my friend FULL control of my account to whip it into shape and I'm going to follow his every move and continue to learn. I know you will be wanting every detail so I'll still post here and you can follow along. No worries!

I'm going to do a bit of homework this weekend. My friend is into the Bio-Tech stocks and I found some great sites for breaking news:
http://news.biocompare.com/
http://biotech.seekingalpha.com/
http://www.genengnews.com/

So everyone enjoy your Good Friday and Easter weekend and I'll be back again soon!

Wednesday, April 4, 2007

I'm still here...

How sad. I feel for the few readers I have out there. I hate it when I visit blogs only to see their most recent post was days ago. I LOVE fresh content! So why am I not here more often?? Well, there are many reasons and I will not complain about them too much BUT the point of this blog to begin with, was to help more busy women like me excel at trading . When I first started out (granted, only a few months ago!) I found very few blogs from women traders! And even fewer from women like me who were married, raising a family, running a household and had very little time to jump into a venture like this and learn what you need to know to be a successful trader. I thought it would be fun, useful and informative to log my journey, not only for other traders, but for myself as well.

So enough of that!!! I can't promise I'll be here daily, as every spare moment I have on the computer seem to be looking for the next big move, but I'll try to get here a tad more often then once a week as that is a huge pet peeve of mine in other blogs!!!

So, a lot has happened since I was last here. I convinced my husband we should use part of our tax return to fund my trading account. I deposited a grand total of $2000 and it went in today at market open. I promptly spent my wad!! (I AM a woman after all!) My stock trading friend and mentor has been tossing bones my way for a while and I decided to shock the shit out of him and actually act on a few. Unfortunately I was not quite fast enough (translates into "snuggly in my bed and did not want to get up, put in my contacts and be at the computer screen promptly at 6:30 Pacific Time) so I didn't make quite the profits I possibly could have but I'm not unhappy with my holdings so here you go:
PRW - 300 shares (still holding from long ago, hope to sell soon.....)
Today bought:
CYTR - 200 shares at $5.24, stop at $4.82 which is an 8% loss
NGEN - 300 shares at $1.68
BIOM - 350 shares at $1.24

Bought these early in the trading day. My friend gave me the leads (actually I found BIOM on my own from previous evening scans) and I checked the charts, liked the volumes and jumped in. I set stops on CYTR and NGEN but did NGEN only till end of day and it ran out so I need to redo in the morning. I'm leaving BIOM as a longer term effort (know there is an official name for that....??).

So that is where I'm at. Isn't this fun? NOT YET! It was a bit gut wrenching. The big question will be whether I can be a successful and profitable trader while living my normal and hectic life!! This week, for example, my Mother is visiting for a week, the kids are on spring break and we have numerous activities daily. I also like to work out, preferably in the morning, which is during market hours. NO CAN DO. Today I worked out at 1:15, right after market closed. I also have a real job and work part time. My kids play sports, my daughter is getting ready for her Senior year in high school, we are a very busy family with a big social life as well.

So the purpose of this blog is "CAN SHE DO IT?" and I am out to prove I can!!!

P.S. RCAU...by the way...sold last week at $2.45 with a nice little profit (at this point anything, even $50, is a nice little profit!) but as you all know, this stock is out of control with growth!!! I like watching it even though it's long gone from my life for now.....

Tuesdays must be my thing....

Well, here it is, another Tuesday and I'm posting. I work part time and seem to have the most time to post or think about posting on Tuesdays. So let's get to it!

Okay, I took another online tutorial by Toni Turner yesterday which I found by linking to her site http://www.toniturner.com/ and then it links to http://www.realtick.com/ and the class was basically examples of her technical indicators that she uses to decide when a stock is a "buy". I took 2 pages of notes and she had great charts for visuals.

So yesterday my friend gives me some stock tips. One of those was RCAU and I watched it all day yesterday. It basically shot through the roof! So as part of my learning curve, I woke up this morning, jumped onto my streaming quotes screen and after seeing it was still climbing, I decided to buy some. Now, I only had a measly $140 or so in my trading account. Most of my $ is tied up in that damn PRW! And if I quit shopping I'd have a bit more to play around with, but any-hoo, I was able to buy 76 shares (whoooo hooo!!!) and then I sat and watched it some more!!

About RocketCity:

Visit them on the web at http://www.rocketcityauto.com/ to learn more.
Learn more about CompleteAuto by visiting:

So I learned a few interesting things today. I learned that I do have what it takes to eventually make some money in the short term market. If I would have just put in $3000 today on RCAU, at several points in the day I could have easily made over $900. That will more then exceed my daily goal when I'm up and running.

The other thing I learned is that I NEED MORE MONEY TO PLAY AROUND WITH!!! This is crucial to my success. I get paid on Thursday from my other part-time job and we will see if I can get it into my trading account!!!

Homework

Well, I know I have not posted in about a week but I've been busy doing my homework. I just took an online class this morning at the Better Trades school. I took the class called Trend Trading and it is taught by Markay Latimer who told us she started with about $2000 and in a little under 2 years had turned it into over 2 million dollars! She is a strict analytical (can you say CHARTS) trader and most of this lesson goes over basic Candlestick charts and focuses on using trend lines and moving averages to buy and sell. She also covers some price patterns such as the Wedge and Rectangle and explains what these mean.

I found the class easy to follow and was able to understand everything she said for the most part. She did get into options and contracts and I have yet to venture there so did get a bit lost but the basic concepts she taught could be applied to standard stock purchases as well.

And on a bright note, PRW was soaring today for no reason I can determine as of yet! I am poised to sell. I'd like to get my initial investment back and move on to something better! Stay tuned to see what happens!!

Hmmmm....

Well, WITM did NOTHING today. Neither did much else. In fact, the stock market bombed totally. Very discouraging for a newbie. I spent most of the day watching the ticks, most of the positive ones were happening where I least suspected them. Although, RPTN and ABAT did well again today. Also, strangely enough, so did ITLI. This is what makes me want to throw in the towel! But no, I'll struggle on. I just don't understand any of it yet.

I did read a very interesting blog tonight: http://blog.afraidtotrade.com/ and was admittedly fascinated by some of his concepts. I'll be watching him! (is it a "him" or do you ever really know?

Well, in the meantime, if you are here reading my blog, check out my jewelry website. http://www.stonesonstring.com I'm much better at making jewelry then playing the stock market.......so far! Chow!!

I just don't undertstans any of it yet.

Dazed and Confused

Well, this is harder then I thought. I am trying to get a handle one things. I am all over the place!! I need some specific direction and did get some today from my good friend. I seem to have a bit of ADD when studying stocks. I look at one thing and then start looking at something else and then before you know it, I'm all off track! So here is my focus:
I go to stockcharts.com and look at the scan of the new 52 week highs. Then I find stocks within my price range and study them closer. I am looking at the SMA using 10 and the EMA using 30. Mostly with the period at 3 months. Then I check the MACD and finally the Bollinger Bands. If all of this looks screamingly good, then I investigate further. I look at news, historical data/prices and whatever else I can find. I also go to Google Blog Search and check out anyone else who might be talking about this in their blog and find out why.

So tonight my studies included the following: CIMT, CMGI, LSPN, NSSI, RPTN, RYQG, WITM and ZROS. I really like WITM. I'm going to follow that one and see what happens. With the recent time change I'm a bit fuzzy so off to bed!

Weekend Update

Well, last week was not too exciting. We had a good day and then a couple ho-hum days. I did watch ITLI and it did drop back down but hard to say if it was due to poor market conditions or just a temporary pullback.

In the meantime, still trying to unload PRW. Watching and waiting for just the right moment. I think it may go back up on Monday.

I am reading my book every chance I get. Really trying to learn the Candlesticks and what they mean. While searching around online last night I found a stock that interests me a little bit - SWEB:

It also operates StockHouse.com and StockHouse.ca, two Websites that provide free stock quotes, market prices and investor financial message boards for major financial markets. It also provides advertising services to stock companies. In February 2007, the Company completed the acquisition of the Mobile Finance Division of TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., a provider of wireless data solutions.

So on Barchart.com it is rated as a 100% BUY right now. The chart looks good, I think. From the little I have learned so far on charts which to be honest, still leaves a lot more to learn! But here is what I see:

Does this look good? Anyone who can help me, it would be much appreciated!

Until Monday then,

Watching....ITLI

Okay, so today I'm going to watch ITLI. In the book I'm reading it talks about a pattern which usually ends up with no more then either 3 days up or down before the stock takes a rest. This stock is soaring so I am interested to see what it does. This will be a learning experience while I'm at my "day job" and can't really trade, even if I wanted to. But I can watch and that is what I'll do!
Happy Thursday!!

And by the way, the "day job" is why I am doing all this to begin with. Trying to gain the financial freedom to not have to work the day job anymore and focus more on the things I want to be doing instead! Good luck to me!!

A Sigh of Relief...

Yes, I'm definitely sighing in relief that today the stock market rebounded! Was I a bit discouraged that thing started looking bleak right as I am delving into this thing? Of course!!! I am relieved that things are bouncing back. To be honest, I knew they would. I did not doubt it for a second!

I am several chapters into my book and just starting to get into the technical analysis chapters. How to read a chart. Specifically, a "candlestick" chart. I've fought it long enough. Now I guess I have to learn. I've determined that my style of trading, once I'm up and running, will be swing trading or someone who holds their stocks a few days, waiting to take the profit and move on to the next big thing. I work part time and currently have Mondays and Tuesdays off every week and then every other Friday off too. So this type of trading will work with my schedule.

I'm sorry this blog is not more exciting. It will get better, I promise!! I think I might put a sell order in for my PRW stock that is not doing that great. If I break even, I'll be happy! Then I will buy into something that is moving better, maybe testing my charting abilities. Just to humor you, here is my watch list:
DMGI
OPBL
MLSS
CYTR
OFI
CSUH
YTBL (I discovered this one, by the way, back when it was like $2.00something and then shot upwards of like $18.00!!!)
ITLI

So that is all for now. Mostly I'm thankful the market is heading back up and giving me faith in all things good in the world.

Market Turmoil

Okay, the market is not doing it's best so I am going to turn away for a little bit and do some more research. Got a new book: A Beginner's Guide to Day Trading Online by Toni Turner. I read the first 2 chapters in the store and I was mesmerized! It is not extremely specific to "day trading" but focuses more on short term/swing AND day trading and gives you the knowledge you need for all three in addition to using easy to understand language and terms. The analytical part looks like something I can follow as well and it appears I will need to understand that part if I'm going to make any $ at this stock trading thing!

So for now I read while the market simmers and stews in it's pot. Happy weekend to all!

Women's Intuition?

One of the first things I notice as I delve into the world of investment opportunities, is there are a zillion tools people use to make their stock picks. There are the fundamentalists, the techy-geeks (no offense, I'm jealous I can't read charts yet!), the copy-cats, the followers, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. I had decided early on, I'd base most of my choices on the fundamentals, mainly because I did not understand the technicals. One of the first books I read was Rule #1 by Phil Town and I thought his "rules" seemed simple to follow and effective for choosing stocks. I studied his formulas and started some spreadsheets. I used the tools on his website. Using his process I realized what sectors I was interested in and found some nice stock picks. I followed them on paper for a while. Then I started to get bored.

Shortly thereafter, I discovered stock screeners. I decided that in order to build my capital up as quickly as possible I had to find some big gainers that were very affordable (we are talking $1-$5 stocks) as my entire future as an investor was starting out with the minimum $500 you need to set up a Scottrade account! So I discovered a few good ones this way. One really good one was YTBL. It did some amazing things as some of you may be aware of and my good friend profited huge from it.

So basically, I'm finding some good picks by doing some very unconventional methods, such as screening for stocks in what I consider to be "not the correct" way to do it and also using my "women's intuition". I look for what I like to call "signs". Such as finding a stock in my screener and then the very next day reading about it in Business Week. Or hearing about a company from a friend at work and then my screener picks it up that night. These are not proven methods but so far they have led me in the right direction and now I feel almost confident enough to start snatching some of these picks up! And I did with my purchase yesterday!!

So in part, this blog will be a diary of my learning curve but also will demonstrate the possible differences that may exist between men and women investors, and which one really "get's it"!

Made the leap!

Today marks the beginning of my leap into the stock market! Decided to finally jump in and purchase my first stock: PRW.

Pro-Pharmaceuticals Inc.
189 Wells Avenue
Newton, MA 02459
Site: http://www.pro-pharmaceuticals.com/

The company also conducts preclinical studies with DAVANAT in combination with other chemotherapies, including irinotecan, doxorubicin, paclitaxel, oxaliplatin, cisplatin, and bevacizumab. It has a Research Collaboration with Mount Sinai School of Medicine to evaluate the anti-fibrotic effects of carbohydrate compounds. Pro-Pharmaceuticals was founded in 2000 and is based in Newton, Massachusetts.

First found this stock in the MSN Stock Screener on 2/20/06 and on that day it closed at 1.06. Purchased today at 1.1699, 300 shares. Of course, the market as a whole decided to bomb today but how was I to know? It will bounce back though. So I am officially a "player" in the market! Whoo hoooooo!

For a little background on Moi, I am a gal, almost 40, who after some recent events decided to delve into the world of stock market investing. The "recent event" was a great friend coming to stay with us and telling us all about how he turned $5000 into $50,000 in a very short time. I'm no dummy and know this can be done and so I decided "if he can do it, so can I". Thus the beginning of my journey! I hope you will travel with me on my road to riches and perhaps someday down the road, someone might learn a thing or two from me as well!!
